
Born in 1981 in Piracicaba – São Paulo, Fernando Saiki is a Japanese descendent Brazilian printmaker artist influenced by traditional Japanese prints. His B.F.A. in sculpture and M.F.A. in printmaking was received from São Paulo University. Subsequently he received a M.F.A. in printmaking from Tokyo University of the Arts and currently he is a Ph.D. candidate in printmaking course at the same university.
Saiki uses traditional Japanese woodblock print to create works that investigates body image, erotica and multiplicity. His visual and conceptual vocabulary emerges from the intersection between Japanese culture and Western philosophy.
Saiki’s work was exhibited in Brazil, Japan, United States and United Kingdom. He currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.
